Did you know that Fall is the best time in the Northwest to plant your favorite trees, shrubs and perennials?

This is because your soil is still warm in the fall allowing roots to grow, while the cooler temperatures and (sure to come!) rainfall help the plant’s roots become well-established.

If you are looking for some great plants to put in the ground during this opportune time you should join me at the upcoming fall plant sale, FallAbundance, at the Arboretum next Saturday.

This sale is hosted by the Arboretum Foundation’s Pat Calvert Greenhouse and Plant Donations Nursery and after a long season of propagating, growing, potting, and re-potting plants, the greenhouse and nursery will have an abundance of plants – plus many unusual species and varieties—all at fabulous prices.
