I recently told you about a fun event that I was excited about attending at the iconic Seattle Space Needle – The Taste of Check Please! Northwest celebration. It was such a lovely experience!
When was the last time you went to a party at the Space Needle? What a terrific place to hold an event!
If you are looking for a place to host a private party, I highly recommend that you take a serious look at this unique event venue. Such a versatile space, and the view is just spectacular from up there! (but you knew that right? 🙂 )
There was live music from Shelley and the Curves on the Skyline Level.
Check, Please! Northwest airs on public television, KCTS 9. Each week, it features three local diners, not professional restaurant critics, who dine out and then meet for filming at the Space Needle to discuss their favorite restaurants.
This celebration featured tastes from many of the restaurants reviewed in season one of the show. Here are a few of my favorites from the “Taste”:
Prosciutto and grilled cheese with grapes from SkyCity Restaurant at the Space Needle.Ray’s Boathouse featured smoked mussels, with a caper vinaigrette and poquito pepper salsa. These have to be some of the best mussels I have EVER had! So fresh!
Chimichurri shredded beef sliders from El Gaucho.
The Hunt Club at the Sorrento table was so crowded that this was the best photo I could get. After I tasted the Confit Kurobuta Pork Belly with Maple sauce, Pickled Huckleberries and Rosemary, I could see why – this dish was out of this world!
Can I just say – wow!
Adam’s Northwest Bistro & Brewery in Monroe (yes, Monroe!) sampled a small but mighty taste of smoked salmon, cucumber, goat cheese and salmon roe.
Oh, my goodness – I would drive all that way out there to get this!
Shamiana, Cuisine from India and Beyond, in Kirkland showed off their Major Grey Chicken, with a mango chutney and cream curry.
The crispy onions on top just pushed this one over the edge!
Steak Frites from Blackboard Bistro in West Seattle – melt-in-your-mouth beef with thin, crispy potatoes.
BBQ chicken sliders in ancho molasses sauce from the Tom Douglas “Rub with Love” line.
Finally, I enjoyed dessert (I love pumpkin everything!), Pecan struesel pumpkin pie from Macrina Bakery…
